The Johnny Cash one is always there at the back of my mind though, and we saw a repeated documentary about him the other day, so I guess I am not quite cheating there.

MT

PS Sorry about not working out how to do tags properly. Love the music, love the clever lyrics, the idea of a young man being treated like dirt by a girl, the slightly sardonic tone. Wonderful.

Run,Baby,Run by Sheryl Crow. I love tousled female singer/songwriters and they don't come much better than this. Added to the fact I like a clever lyric "She was born in November the day Aldous Huxley died.." (also the day of JFK's death, but she doesn't sing it) & a great tune.

Beautiful - Christina Agueilara. I forgive her all the crap for this. Wonderful lyrics again "you're a beautiful, no matter what they say" & for daring to have people who aren't physically beautiful on the video as she sings it.

Get into the Groove - Madonna. So many songs too choose from, but I love this cos it reminds me of when I was young and went out dancing.

Desperado The Eagles for personal reasons. It's great though.

"Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps" Doris Day which must be seen with this scene from "Strictly Ballroom" Sexy Dancing, humour and real sadness. Fantastic!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycrvNbct1LI

And finally, this has to be my all time favourite
"Hurt" by the late, great and much lamented Johnny Cash. For years I'd pegged Johnny Cash as some old country & western hasbeen. Till I saw this, his last video. Talk about memento mori. He sings it beautifully, with real pain, a plea for forgiveness of the many hurts he inflicted in the past, a recognition of the physical hurt he and his wife June were going through near the end of their lives, and an acknowledgement of the unimportance of all their wealth and fame. It's really wonderful and always always makes me cry.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ4Go

Hope that'll do. I'll probably think of some more tomorrow!

MTXAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19302868.post-46098092158481774982008-06-04T16:54:00.000+00:002008-06-04T16:54:00.000+00:00Persephone, give me any excuse to provide a soundt...Persephone, give me any excuse to provide a soundtrack and I'll take it!!! Sorry about the chilling BBE ref though... I love that song because it makes me think the singer is really sad and lonely and it's got the emotional catch I always go for in songs I use when I'm writing. So the lyrics, probably ain't quite right, but the feelings it inspires are probably perfect for one of my current heroes...
I've just tried to look for the promo for I'd Do Anything which has just finished, which features Nancys ripping off each other's lockets. It's the first time we've watched one of these series and it was horribly compuslive...

expatmum I always think these things are just a bit of fun, really. Hope I haven't given you too much of a headache!!

Rivergirlie. I like music memes (not that I've done many memes...) because you don't have to be interesting just say what music you like. Don't know if you can do it on wordpress, but I copy the embedded stuff from the You Tube video and just paste in using html version of the blog. Which seems to work... I did try posting straight from You Tube and never got anywhere!Jane Henryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17514534117777707886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19302868.post-56771424573111064622008-06-04T14:56:00.000+00:002008-06-04T14:56:00.000+00:00well, i accept! i'm very very poor at completing m...well, i accept! i'm very very poor at completing memes, tho, cos nothing brings crashing home how amazingly dull i am like having to write interesting things about myself (there are none - except the toast phobia that everyone no knows about). actually, i owe one to ben locker, so maybe i'll do them together.
how did you get all those utube things to appear on one page? i can't bloody do it!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19302868.post-82636713684080824132008-06-04T13:46:00.000+00:002008-06-04T13:46:00.000+00:00Gosh this will take some thinking. This came through from Lisa at "Rullensberg Rules" to Rob at "Eine Kleine Nichtmusik" to me.
"Behind Blue Eyes" has rather a chilling reference for me. Someone related to my husband loathes me (has never said why) and this song is my warped way of trying to feel some compassion for him: "...my dreams aren't as empty as my conscience seems to be...."
Not living in England, I'd never seen that hysterical promo for How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria.
