Radio 2 Music Marathon

Any fans of Radio 2 out there today?

If like me you are listening to the Music Marathon for Children in Need, you probably have your dancing shoes on. Me too. And am on the floor listening to Keith Chegwin on the Jeremy Vine show. He's barking.

I donated this morning to Terry Wogan but didn't have time to see if he read out my request. The children will be disappointed...

I've also just bought the Janet and John CD, which I can't wait to listen to.

I love Children in Need. It is cheesy and naff beyond belief, but the sight of the newsreaders doing whatever they do is worth it alone. It is a particularly gloriously English kind of thing, and of course they raise loads of money.

Fab... Jeremy is just playing The Weather Girls. How good is that???

If you haven't donated yet, go on do...

And if you're too mean, at least tune in for the great music.

I shall be plonked on the sofa later with a bottle of wine, several children and Terry....

To my bloggy friends across the pond or in Oz, guess what you can listen online and find out why Radio 2 makes my day....

Ok, now I need a link because my googling tends to get very distracted and random and who knows where I will end up if you don't direct me!

Mad muthas - you have to take control of the airwaves girls!!! No 1 always moans about my choice of radio, but I am the one with my finger on the nob....

I realised I had become middleaged when on holiday in our new Volvo we joined the National Trust and were constantly tuned to Radio 2.

However, the music is so great, and the DJs all sound like they're having a hoot, they regularly brighten my day.

And somehow they seem to have all found their way into my book too...
Bec just go to the Radio 2 website and you can listen again for up to a week.

My battle radio wise is with A, who is devoted to 5Live (Zzzz...) Luckily though he is, at heart, a telly man, so I have contriol of all of the radios in the house... bliss!

Aah. I do listen to Five Live too, but mainly in the day in the car.

I absolutely adore Simon Mayo in the afternoons. One of my many aims in life is to get on his book slot!!

But the constant sport leaves me cold so I never listen at the weekends...

Luckily Spouse is unsporty so it isn't an issue. In fact it's his fault I listen to Radio 2 in the first place...

Must start listening to Five Live in the afternoons, then, Jane. The rest of the time I listen to Radio 2, and donated to Ken so he would break the 2 milllion before handing over to Jezza. Only able to watch CIN after coming home from the theatre, and was more impressed with SOM than I expected to be. Makes me jealous of a mutual friend of ours!

You'd love Simon Mayo, Lesley. He is witty and pithy and the analysis of PMQs with John Pinaar is top notch. I first started listening to him when I was pregnant with no 4 and I used to often take the car too school in the afternoon. Parking was dire, so I used to park up early and hope that no 3 (then a baby) stayed snoozing and no 2 (then a toddler) would be suitable pacified with biscuits and toddlers so I could sit back and listen to William Hague trading blows with Tony Blair. Irrespective of politics I've been impressed by Hague ever since. I suspect history will record him as the greatest Tory PM who never was...

Mark Kermode on films is always v entertaining and informative

Boyd??? on books equally so.

They do a nice line in ranting.

And when Liz Noble was on she made me really laugh as he went apoplectic at how idiotic her romantic novel was. She just said very very sweetly, Well it isn't FOR you, is it???

The fact that I know someone who has been on his programme gives me hope....

love Jane
